From Mrs. Kelln: Please comment below by Friday, Oct. 28 if you're planning on bringing anything so I can make sure we have enough. Thanks so much. I might be more than just a little excited about Halloween now for many reasons!
This is just a friendly reminder that we will be writing our spelling test on Thursday. Please make sure to review your spelling words over the next couple of evenings.
Thank you. Miss Shykora Dear Parents,
When you have a moment could you please take the time to fill out a survey for our Second Step program. Your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Please access the survey at the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/8QD78TL Thank you We have three more swimming days remaining. Here are a few more pictures from our wet adventures at Park Valley Pool.
Thank you to everyone who reviewed their pretest over the weekend. As a group we all needed a little more review on the different ways to make the same number using Base Ten Blocks. We practiced more today and we will be writing our test tomorrow.
Today we completed a pretest on different ways to write the number 262. We focused on standard form (262), written in words (two hundred sixty-two), tally marks, using Base Ten Blocks (squares to show 100, tall rectangles to show 10 and small boxes to show one), creating number sentences using symbols (+,-,=), and expanded form (200+60+2=262). The pretests were sent home, along with an answer key. Please make sure to review the concepts with your child over the weekend, focusing on where they could use a little more practice. We will be writing our test on Monday.
Thank you. Miss Shykora Splish! Splash! We had our first day of swimming lessons yesterday and we are looking forward to the remaining four days.
Thank you so much to all the parents who made it to parent-teacher interviews! It was great to see you all and I enjoyed our conversations. If you did not get a chance to meet up with me, we will look at a date and time together that is more convenient.
On Wednesday, Indiana Jane, from Teacher's Pet, led us through a Junior Geologist's apprenticeship session where we identified igneous, sedimentary & metamorphic rocks, performed a hardness test on a number of rocks and even got to make toothpaste using a combination of calcium bicarbonate (Tums), sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) and water. We had a Rockin' good time and we could not have done it without our parent volunteers! Thank you so much for making our session a success!
