The grade threes had a blast at the theater today! The excitement level kept climbing right until we were back at the school! So much fun and some neat dress up costumes too!

We are putting the finishing touches on our hot air balloons today, adding a basket and some of the things we hope for in our future. Things like what we'd like to be when we grow up, where we hope to live, and who we want to be close to. And of course, we are still exercising our brains too!
Students have started their paper mache project centered around the Dr. Seuss book "Oh the Places You'll Go". We read the book and had a good discussion regarding growing up, choosing good paths, and the affect of our life choices. Some great discussions happened! And then it was on to the messy part! Part 1 saw us covering our balloons with the paper mache. Don't worry Mom and Dad, it's just flour and water and will wash off if your child got it on them. Although we did try to stay as clean as possible, some mess is just inevitable!
Our auditions continued yesterday and today! We have seen some neat instruments. Students do have the option to take their instruments home with them after presenting or keep them here at the school for display. It's great hearing the students explain how they can change the intensity (volume) of their instrument as well as the pitch of their instruments! Good job! And today's daily math... could you do it?
Students are really jumping into their multiplication practice! Great to see. Here students practice with flashcards (you can get them for about $3 a pack at Walmart) while others finish up their dream house perimeter assignment! In the afternoon, it was time to start our creative auditions. Students had 5 weeks and 5 days to work on these at home and brought them in today. They were very excited! Here you can see some of the presenters and watch Macey play a recognizable tune on her instrument too! On WEDNESDAY MARCH 25, we are going to a private screening of the new Cinderella (release date: March 13, 2015) to celebrate all we’ve accomplished this term in our story writing and fairy tale unit. The theater has been reserved just for Evergreen’s grade 3 students. At this time we do not need additional supervisors or volunteers but if that changes your teacher will be in contact. Please return the slip below, along with payment by FRIDAY March 20th, 2015 ![]()
As we wrap up term two and enter term three, we are asking students tougher questions in math. In a little over 3 months they will be grade 4 students and we have some tough skills to master before then! The students are rising to the challenge though! Below is today's tough daily math assignment as well as the sheet that was sent home to help students memorize their multiplication facts. Students were sent home this multiplication sheet today. Practice with your child over the coming weeks as these facts become automatic! Students are only required to know up to 5x5 in grade three but they certainly can work on the harder ones once they master those! ![]()
Students are working on various parts of their stories in and around the school. We have also started a culminating project on perimeter where we are designing our own dream houses! Look for these in your child's portfolio when it comes home on March 20th!
Students are back after a long weekend and working hard. We were so busy working today that we didn't get any photos! Almost all of the students are onto their good copy of their fractured fairy tales and many are even starting their actual recordings! With report cards, portfolios, and everything else- things are super busy for the month of March!
