The grade 3s were treated to a neat Ukrainian experience to coincide with the study of Ukraine in social studies. Special thanks to Mrs. Kadylo for organizing and arranging it for us and to the parent volunteers who made this day possible (Mrs. Barton, Mrs. Davis, Mrs. Manchester, and Mrs. Smith)! A special note went home with some of the pictures on it for those who don't always get to check the blog!

Today students showed their might in their spelling skills and then learned what it takes to be a part of the Kids of Steel Triathlon on May 9th.
We had our second Google Hangout with the grade 7s from Londonderry Jr. High in Edmonton to discuss our novel, Because of Mr. Terupt! We added to our character sillouhettes and swapped more dollar words again! It is so neat to see the kids get excited to connect with others over a good book! And check out our daily math review today! Can you get the answer to number 4? See if your grade 3 student can help you!
Today we celebrate the planet we live on! Students wore creative hats made out recycled materials and helped with a school wide clean up! Then they got their hands (and arms, faces, feet??) dirty helping to prepare our school flower boxes! But we can't let our minds get bored!
Just because the students had the day off, doesn't mean us teachers did! We spent the day working with each other and others across the division to help us get even better!
Success! Our first hangout with the Londonderry students was a huge success. The students discussed their characters traits, why their characters act the way they do, and what they think will happen next. They also shared hints at different dollar words for a math connection! So fun! Afterwards, we spent some time outside in the sunshine at the student's request to do an outside DEAR. Great day today, guys!
In preparation for our Google Hangout tomorrow, the kids finished all the loose ends up to now in our shared novel study (Because of Mr. Terupt). They created their character silhouettes, compiled their group's dollar words, and did a practice hangout with their group to iron out all the bugs. We are ready!
Students stretched their brains thinking back to some term one math as well as current concepts in our daily review today. And we continue working on our throwing and catching skills in gym! What fun! And we had a little bit of fun with our health lesson (our unit of self-control) today. Can you believe by the end, most of the kids were singing along?!? The grade threes had a blast at the theater today! The excitement level kept climbing right until we were back at the school! So much fun and some neat dress up costumes too!
We are putting the finishing touches on our hot air balloons today, adding a basket and some of the things we hope for in our future. Things like what we'd like to be when we grow up, where we hope to live, and who we want to be close to. And of course, we are still exercising our brains too!
