Every morning we review our language and spelling skills. Our daily lessons include editing (spelling, punctuation, capitals, etc), word choice, vocabulary, synonyms, antonyms, facts vs opinions, and more. We review the answers on the board as class. Today we then used Oxford Owl (find it under 3K Students tab) to read a picture book. Students will get a chance to try this technology later today in computer class.
With all that sitting, we needed to move! A game of "Captain's Coming" is a great way to get our blood flowing throughout our bodies and into our brains!
After an indoor recess this morning, we worked on our daily math review as we will each day. We did two today to get into the practice of it as well as to catch up for this week. This is a great chance to practice a variety of learned skills rather than the one concept we are learning at any given moment. Student color in fraction bars in anticipation of our fraction unit later in the year.
We were cooped up too long so Mrs. Kelln and Mrs. Payne decided we needed to get outside for some fresh air. Two indoor recesses yesterday and one today was tough. The students enjoyed getting out and playing with the snow a bit. A little bit of reading time and we were are heading on to social and computers. Of course we snuck in a quick game of "I spy" once we were all finished our work. This game focuses our attention on the little details that will one day help us with describing things in our writing.
