A full month has gone by and we are wading into the thick of things. Today we finished up our Turkey Writings, and completed our daily math and language review. We also popped into the library for home book exchange and Music with Mrs. Manicom.
We have completed skip counting with 2s and 3s and started on the 4s. Some people were super fast and worked ahead to the 5s! Try practicing at home without using a number line. Several students are still relying on it and we want to move ahead to doing the math in our heads now.
Sixty students inside the gym. What do you do? STATIONS! The kids love it and they are all moving! You forget quickly that, amongst all their fun, they are really practicing and using throwing skills, catching skills, balance skills, hand-eye coordination, cardio, imagination, and teamwork. The stations included
- Benches (Step ups, tricep dips, jumps) - cardio, coordination
- Skip Balls - coordination, timing, cardio
- Skipping - teamwork, cardio,
- Scoop Ball- catching skills, teamwork
- Bean Bag Balance - balance
- Frisbee Target - Throwing skills
- Water & Stretches
Our DEAR was followed up with our science notes on sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rock. We made some connections to the terrible volcanic eruption that occured recently in Japan as some students had heard about it on the news. It's nice to see the students making real world connections with what we learn in school.
Have a wonderful weekend!
