What We Did Today
- Enjoyed a yummy breakfast as usual (Thank you Breakfast & Hot Lunch Volunteers!)
- Some estimating practice
- Big George Chapter 3
- Brain Break (Ninjas Training!) to wear off our energy before our special guest speaker arrived
- Special Guest Author Nikki Brook (who grew up in Breton) shared her chapter book series geared towards grade 2 & 3 students. She also shared a wonderful message: Follow Your Dreams! In order to accomplish your dreams she told us we had to do three things: Dream it! Believe it! Work at it! She then challenged us to write adventure stories and she will consider one of our students for a character in her next book (many schools are participating in this challenge). Fingers crossed! - We wrote our stories & shared them with each other. Then we shared compliments around the room on each other stories with Thunder Tickets given for great work and efforts. We only had 14 to give out but encourage everyone to go to the game.
- We had some time so Maclin and Presley shared some rock knowledge with us. We discovered, using Presley's rock chart, that Maclin's rock could possibly be a mineral called Sodalite. Neat!
- More fun outside before the weather turns next week!
- DEAR
- Computers with Mrs. Goddard
Reminder
With the weather getting colder, please ensure your grade 3 student comes to school with more than just a sweater. As we live in Alberta, we still brave the colder weather and some without coats may not be able to take full advantage of recess or other outside activities once the thermometer drops. Thank you!
Tomorrow at 9:00am is our Remembrance Day ceremonies here at school. We encourage students to wear red and black to show our support. Thank you to all who have served and continue to serve our country here and abroad.
