We had a great breakfast of apples, bagels with cinnamon spread, and milk today. Some students even made the connection to the layers of their Earth and the apple analogy we used in class. They understood that as they bit into the crust of the Earth (the apple skin) and ate the mantel (apple flesh) they were getting closer to the outer core (the casing around the seeds) and the solid inner core (the seeds themselves). Afterwards the students got down to work on their Robert Munsch Story unit. Today's story "The Paper Bag Princess" is always a favorite. Here you can see the students clapping out the syllables of some words from the story. We have lots of things to learn in grade three but we can't forget about the other things too! Here our class practices "The Hockey Song" with Miss Manicom in Music. And don't forget our Daily DEAR Reading. Students have been reading so nicely at their seats that this week they've been given the option to read around the room wherever they would like to read. Some students go under tables and desks, others prefer our big long shelf or the floor, and still some like to stay in their (or a friend's) seat. As long as you're comfortable and reading, it doesn't matter where!
