Our daily math review proved a bit tricky until we learned how to remember which number is the greatest and which is the least. L for least and L for lowest, while G for greatest as well as growing. We related it to the Monster's Inc. guys Sully and Mike. We all had a good little chuckle. Afterward completing some lesson worksheets, we broke into groups to play a dice game. Students would take turns rolling the dice to come up with a number. Then they would compare those two numbers in terms of >,<, and =. For example if I rolled a 4, 5, 2, 1, I would compare 45 and 21 to come up with the number sentence 45 > 21. We did this for two and three digit numbers. Kids loved getting to toss the big dice!
Outside for some free time to burn off our energy and then we played some group games. Blob Tag and Toilet Tag were fun with both grade 3 classes participating in gym.
After our DEAR time we decided we had earned ourselves a couple of brain breaks. The first one was a bit of a mind relaxing one where the student focused on trying to hold a star position while breathing deeply. We followed that up with high intensity, get the body rocking and rolling one. It was interesting to see all the different movements the kids came up with.
Our last period was with Mrs. Goddard working on our Raz-Kids.com on the computer. Remember, you can go online at home and continue your work. When students level up like Faith did, they earn a free period. Be sure you are reading for information and try to get all the quizzes right on the first try. You can earn extra stars by doing so!
See you all tomorrow!
