The first day of school was a busy but great one! Students first had to work together to create an unknown object. EVERY group figured out that it was a superhero! They are SO smart!!! We then figured out what our superhero strengths that we brought to the classroom were. We have superhero mathematicians, scientists, spellers, and readers.
Supplies were next. In 3K we do not pool student supplies. Each student has their own daily supplies kept in their pencil boxes. They then have a stash of their own quick extras in their individual baskets on our shelves. Finally, they store their other extras in a labeled bag in the top of their locker. If a student runs short of supplies during the year, a note will be sent home requesting additional items as soon as possible. Organizing and labeling supplies is a bit chaotic in the beginning, but it helps us be stocked for the year! Thank you parents for your help!
We had some yummy snacks for lunch and had a chance to visit with our friends throughout the day. We read a hilarious story titled "How Not to Start Third Grade" and then headed off to our first day assembly. We had an excited moment when some of our teachers (including Mrs. Kelln) completed the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in front of everyone to finish our day.
Overall, an amazing start to the year!
