With report cards due in just a couple of weeks, we are already beginning our term one assessments. Students have started getting their portfolios ready to show you and are working very hard to demonstrate what they know. In the meantime, we break the assessments up with some fun!
What We Did Today
What We Did Today
- Term one story assessment: Students used a picture prompt of a pirate to start their stories. We discussed as a group what we saw in the picture, what characters might be feeling, what might of happened before this picture, what might have happened after this picture, etc. Then students were given time to plan our their stories with reminders to focus on a good beginning type, describing characters and settings, have smaller problems leading to one big problem, and solving their problem in an exciting and interesting way. They then had a chance to reflect on their writing; the quality of their ideas, the proper use of their grammar skills, and their printing abilities. This story will be a main focus when it comes to assessing students for their report cards (taking into account their progress over the term as well).
- SWIMMING! Lots of fun again and some great safety lessons and skills learned today!
- Math: Students reviewed their skills in place value, ordering, reading & writing numbers, and skip counting.
- DEAR
- TWO Brain Breaks to get us up and moving! Zumba and a little bit of minion happiness! (Video posted below)
- Computers with Mrs. Goddard! Don't forget to keep practicing your Raz-Kids at home too!
REMINDER - Halloween Celebration
Students are already getting excited for Halloween this Friday! A gentle reminder to keep costumes school friendly without gore or weapons and not too scary please- we don’t want to frighten other children during our school parade and dance!
After the dance, students will return back to class for a class Halloween celebration. Many students have indicated they would like to bring treats. This is one of the class celebrations that we welcome goodies if you choose to bring some. There is no obligation to do so. However, if you’d like to, the students appreciate your generosity.
Have a safe and happy Halloween!
